Greeks willing to take "deal of the century" from Croats - "Konstruktor" has two months to provide banking guarantee for Bar-Boljare highway

- If Croatian "Konstruktor" fails to provide quality banking guarantee for the "deal of the century"- construction of the first Montenegrin highway, between Bar and Boljare, Greek-Israeli consortium "Aktor HCH", the second-ranked bidder on the tender, is willing to take over that job - Fena announced.

- We have submitted the bid for that Montenegrin project and we are ready to negotiate all the details with the representatives of Montenegrin Government, under our conditions, when and if the time is right - Janis Lafas, the Head Architect in Athens-based company, told Montenegrin daily newspaper "Pobjeda".

Lafas said that if the International Finance Corporation and the bank were still willing to finance that project, they can find the solution together and start the works as soon as all conditions were met.

Montenegrin Government's Council for construction of highways came to the conclusion at the last week's meeting that the guarantee submitted by the Croatian consortium led by "Konstruktor" did not provide insurance for final signing of financial contract, so that alternative solutions should be taken in consideration.

The Council decided to extend the deadline for meeting of the conditions for 60 days in order for "Konstruktor", as the tender winner, to submit the new tender guarantee prior to December 28, 2009, and pay the rest of the fee to the International Finance Corporation by then.

If "Konstruktor" fails to provide the banking guarantee and close the financial structure in two months, the Council will suggest Montenegrin Government start preliminary talks with the second-ranked bidder and ask for better financial offer of consortium "Aktor HCH".
