This pertains to a potential investment in the construction of a solar park in the territory of Sokolac. The location for the construction of a 60-MW solar power plant, which the investor is interested in, is in the area of the village of Breakovici.
According to Bjelica, this memorandum entails several modes of cooperation, and the priority is the production of electrical energy from renewable sources.
– We have carried out consultations with the competent ministry in the Government of Republika Srpska, as well as a representative of the Independent System Operator in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has been managing the power transfer system since 2005 and which previously prepared a feasibility study which determined the potential for the construction of two solar power plants in the Sokolac area, one of 60 MW and the other of 80 MW. Investment Group Balkan is interested in investing in this area, that is, in building a solar park on 100 ha of land – Bjelica said.
He added that the next steps were defined by the Memorandum of Understanding, namely, the identification of the location, the visiting of the terrain, and it is up to the investor to notify the ministry of the interest in investing in the construction of a solar plant in this area.
– It is necessary to prepare the documentation and approvals, and it is up to the competent ministry to determine the seriousness of the investor and open a public call for the awarding of a concession for the land and the inclusion of the investor in the power system of Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is a large capital investment, whose value, under the most favorable circumstances, would be one million convertible marks per megawatt, so the entire project would be worth around EUR 60 million – Bjelica said.
