Contract on cooperation between "Ikarbus" and Italian company "Breda Menarinibus" to be signed on December 21st

- Belgrade-based bus manufacturer "Ikarbus" will sign the contract on business-technical cooperation with Italian company "Breda menarinibus" on December 21, 2009 - the Ministry of Economy of Serbia announced.

According to the announcement, the contract will be signed by Mlađan Dinkić, Serbian Minister of Economy.

The Privatization Agency canceled the contract for sale of the state-owned capital of "Ikarbus" to Russian "Avtodetal service" on September 3rd, after which the President of the Trade union of the factory in Belgrade, Velimir Gligorić, said on several occasions that "Breda menarinibus" was interested in renting "Ikarbus".

After the state became the majority owner of "Ikarbus", the Italian company sent the letter to the Share Fund and expressed readiness for further cooperation through rental of capacities and help in restoration of production.

Before the sale of the state-owned share to Russians, "Breda menarinibus" and "Ikarbus" had started cooperation in production of buses for the market of European Union, but realization of that project was discontinued because the new owners wanted to export buses to Russian market.

The sales contract with company "Avtodetal service" was canceled because the company from Russia failed to fulfill the obligations from the social and investment programmes and pay the salaries on regular basis.

The Russian company bought 39.4% of state-owned capital in "Ikarbus" in July 2008 for 7.2m EUR, and it later bought additional 10% of stocks on the Belgrade Stock Exchange.
