- Based on natural potentials, it is possible to build seven mini power plants of 1 to 10 MW on the Toplica river, in the south of Serbia - it is announced in the Study on use of hydro-potentials in the municipality of Prokuplje, which was published yesterday (December 16, 2009).

The author of the Study, Jordan Aleksić from the Belgrade-based Faculty of Applied Ecology (Futura), said to the press that the value of mini power plants ranged between 1.6 and 2m EUR.

- The work of these power plants will improve the supply of electric power to population and enable payment benefits because 10% of produced electricity in each power plant will be given to the municipality that hosts it - said Aleksić.

Local self-government offered the future investors, that is, builders and owners of mini power plants, easier granting of building and work permits.

The Study on use of hydro-potentials in Prokuplje was designed by "Energy Consulting" and the Research Center of Futura Faculty for the needs of local self-government in Prokuplje.
