The storage for oil and oil derivatives of the Republic Directorate for Buffer Stock, which was destroyed during the NATO bombing, was reopened today (December 15, 2009) in Požega.

Four reservoirs are now in use, which means that the capacity of the storage is increased to 32,700 cubic meters.

- The investment is worth 400m RSD and it will be of great significance not only to the regions of Zlatibor and Raška, but also to whole Serbia - the Prime Minister of Serbia, Mirko Cvetković, said today while opening the unit in Zdravčići in Požega.

The Prime Minister pointed to the importance of strategic reserves of fuel to Serbia because they can be used for interventions in the market in case of shortage of fuel and big fluctuations in prices.

The contractor was company "Jedinstvo" from Sevojno, and the investor is the Directorate for Buffer Stock, while the whole project is the result of domestic knowledge that is brought in accord with European environmental and technical standards in order for pollution to be reduced.

The Minister of Trade and Services, Slobodan Milosavljević, praised all the contractors for finishing implementation of the significant project for that part of Serbia on time.

- The rest of Serbia requires such capacities and, by using the funds of NIP in the years to come, we are going to have new storage capacities in Smederevo and Prahovo modernized - said Milosavljević and added that Serbia would, thus, meet the EU standards.

The storage in Požega is managed by people who sit in one room with two computers, and that is the model that should also be applied in the future - Milosavljević added.

Refurbishment of installations in "Požega" started in 2002 and it included three phases, while total value of works amounts to 588.4m RSD, major part of which was provided from NIP.
