"Pakom" opened IT center in Niš - investment worth 3.5m EUR

On Friday (December 11, 2009), IT group "Pakom" opened the IT Center with the computer assembling unit in Niš, in which total of 3.5m EUR was invested.
At the opening ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Economy, Mlađan Dinkić, said that, by introducing information technologies, "Pakom" would help easier introduction of European standards in Serbia.
Dinkić announced that the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development would help both underdeveloped municipalities in Serbia implement the infrastructure projects and young people acquire modern knowledge through use of information technologies.
One of the founders and owners of "Pakom", Dejan Pavlović, said that the computer production unit was designed to produce 50,000 computers on annual basis.
"Pakom's" IT Center is situated in Industrial zone "Sever", in the vicinity of Niš-based Airport "Konstantin veliki", and it comprises distribution, logistics and servicing centers, computer production unit and communication hub.
- The IT Center also includes a development center whose staff of 25 people will be working on new software solutions and education - it was said at the opening ceremony.
The state's subvention for "Pakom's" IT Center amounted to 125,000 EUR, and the City of Niš backed the investment by renting the city building land to the company under very favorable terms.
