Location for regional landfill in Subotica to be selected in mid-January 2010

Elaboration of the General project with the preliminary justification study for regional lanfdill on the territory of Subotica should be finished prior to mid-January 2010 when the authorized city organs will make the final decision on selection of the location, which will be followed by the commencement of work on the plan for detailed regulation and other technical documents. The General project is being elaborated by Novi Sad-based company "Hidrozavod DTD".

"General project with the preliminary justification study will be made in two variatns for two macrolocations, and these two locations will be compared based on aforementioned projects and studies, which will result in the selection of the most favorable and the most suitable location", it is stated on website http://www.deponija.rs./

The preliminary justification study will determine the spatial, ecological, social, financial, market and economic justification of the investment.

The Provincial Secretariat of Civil Engineering, City Planning and Architecture granted 2.9m RSD to Subotica in March 2008 for making of the plan for detailed regulation for the regional landfill.

Public company "City Planning Institute of City of Subotica" and "Regional Landfill" Subotica have done the comparative analysis of potential locations for the regional landfill, based on which the draft Decision on selection of the location is made.

Aforementioned Decision has not been made, so that the funds for design of the plan for detailed regulation have not been used yet. In the meantime, the new Law on Planning and Construction was put in effect, based on which elaboration of the General project with the preliminary justification study is necessary for the facilities of general importance that do not have the plan for detailed regulation.
