Kranj-based Merkur to open big trade center on Bežanijska Kosa - €10m


Slovenian company Merkur is interested in investment in Serbia and, after it worked three years in metal-processing industry, it turns its operations to retail sale this year. Amount of €10m has been invested in equipping of modern trade center on Bežanijska Kosa whose opening should take place on November 18. According to the words of Zoran Cvijanović, director of Belgrade-based daughter-company Merkur Internacional, the center will include the offers of both domestic and foreign manufacturers under slogan "all for home" and, in that center, one will be able to buy technical goods, small household appliances, household appliances, as well as tools and materials for home and garage. The plan for 2006 is that about €20m be invested in metal-processing complex and construction of similar retail space in Novi Sad.
According to the words of Viktor Vauhnik, director for foreign markets and marketing in the home office, this company is already doing business in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Macedonia, but the company’s strategic choice is breakthrough to the markets of Italy, Croatia and Serbia, with which cooperation gets better with years.
