MATIĆ: Possible extension of tender for second operator until January 22nd

The Minister of Telecommunications, Jasna Matić, said that there was the possibility that the deadline for submission of bids for the license for second fixed telephony operator would be extended for about 10 days.

Ms. Matić reminded that the current deadline was January 12, 2010, and that it might be extended for about ten days because of the New Year and Christmas holidays.

The Republic Telecommunications Agency announced that companies "Telenor", "Vip mobile", "Kerseyco Trading Limited" from Cyprus and "Konsing group" had purchased the tender documentation and, thus, become potential candidates for the second fixed telephony operator in Serbia.

By taking part in the work of the round table in the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Minister Matić also invited companies from Serbia to participate in the Information-Communication Technology Policy Support Programme (ICT PSP) whose aim is to improve the competitiveness of local companies.

- That is the programme that makes it possible for our companies to apply for European funds in the consortiums with other European companies - she said and pointed out that total amount of of the funds for that programme was about 750 mil EUR for five years. Companies can obtain few million euros per project.
