Montenegro to issue first economic passport by end-February – Investor planning investments in tourism

By the end of the month, Montenegro will issue its first economic passport, as confirmed for Nova M by the director of the Agency for Investments, Dejan Medojevic. The passport will be given to an investor which plans to invest in the sector of tourism.

The recently formed Agency for Investments has taken over the execution of the project of economic citizenship. So far, as Medojevic said for TV Nova M, the interest has been great.

– The application started in late 2019. So far, 11 applications have been made and they are being processed. One has been greenlit and forwarded to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is to be expected for the first economic passport to be issued by the end of the month – Medojevic said.

The first passport will be given to an investor looking to invest in the sector of tourism. The list of development projects in this area approved by the government so far contains four projects.

– There are two hotels in Kolasin, Kolasin Resort Spa on Bjelasica and Hotel Breza. There are also Hotel Durmitor in Zabljak and Hotel Kraljicina Plaza in Budva – Medojevic said.

In addition to tourism, interested investors may also invest in agriculture, and the competent ministry has adopted a rulebook for development projects in this field. The public invitation is open and applications by interested investors are expected.
