The Belgrade-based company Tehnolosko Partnerstvo has announced that it has designed the “Verified by Pi” app for Android phones, which either confirms the authenticity of photographs or indicates even the slightest manipulation.

– The retouching of reality is not just the result of a need to look better, but to produce fake news as well. That's why it's so important to know whether the photograph is authentic or whether it's been manipulated. Without a detailed professional analysis, it's almost impossible to detect the potential changes made to the photograph – the authors say.

The unique app enables social network and online service users, for whom photographs are one of the principal means of communication, through Instagram, Tinder, TripAdvisor, Airbnb, Booking and other networks and services, to finally get the right information about whether what they're looking is real or has been retouched.

A new version of the app, primarily targeting business users, has been realized within the same project. In addition to checking photographs, users can also check the authenticity of documents (agreements, memorandums, invoices...).
