Guarantee for construction of new copper smelter in Mining Smelter Basin "Bor" included in budget for year 2010

The budget for year 2010 includes the state's guarantee for the loan of 135m EUR for construction of new copper smelter in Mining-Smelter Basin (RTB) "Bor".
The Minister of Economy of Serbia, Mlađan Dinkić, says that the negotiations with Canadian bank EDC on the loan for construction of new unit in Bor-based copper basin were in progress.
- It is expected that the loan will be approved with the repayment period of 10 years and grace period of four years. It is estimated that it will take that much time to build a new unit. The state will also invest additional 25m EUR in purchase of new mining machines - he said.
Dinkić, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, said that the state was not hinking about announcement of the tender for privatization RTB at the moment.
As he explained, RTB will be privatized only if some of "respectable mining companies" expresses interest in strategic partnership with that company.
Three tenders for privatization of RTB "Bor" were declared unsuccessful. The last tender, which was announced in March 2009, was unsuccessful because the only bidder - Austrian "A-Tec", submitted the letter of intent instead of the obligatory bid.
