Belgrade soon to get museum of chocolate

The very mention of chocolate makes everyone's mouth water. This favorite dessert will get its museum in Belgrade on February 18. The home of chocolate in the Serbian capital will be located at 18 Tadeusa Koscuska Street.

– The museum will be dedicated to chocolate only, from its discovery in South America to the present day. The museum will be divided into several rooms, with the first one decorated as a South American jungle, featuring original Mayan and Incan items. The second one will be decorated with European motifs from the 18th century, when chocolate arrived to the continent, and the next room will be dedicated to chocolate in former Yugoslavia and Serbia, all the way to the present day – says Nenad, the founder of the museum.

He adds that he and his wife came to the idea to open a museum of chocolate in Belgrade, adding that the idea may not be that original, as one such museum exists in Vienna too, but he believes that the one in Belgrade will be more educational than the one in Austria. Nenad explains that authentic Mayan items will be displayed in his museum and adds that he sometimes had to wait for one to arrive to Serbia for three whole months. He also says that the museum will feature a lot of interactive content.

– In the South American room, the visitors will be able to draw Mayan prophecies, there will also be a space for selfies and, of course, some kind of chocolate will always be available for tasting – Nenad announces.

Although there's been some talk recently that chocolate might disappear, Nenad says there's no reason to fear. His museum will always offer “plenty of chocolate”, he promises.
