- Not even the second public auction for sale of Mitrovica-based "Šećerana" (Sugar plant) was successful because there were no interested buyers to pay the deposit of 197,262,518 RSD for participation in the auction - said the people from the Court of Commerce in Sremska Mitrovica.
The estimated value of this company amounted to 986,312,590 RSD, while the starting price at the second auction, which was scheduled for December 1st, amounted to 30% of the estimated value, that is, 295,893,777 RSD. The starting price at the first unsuccessful auction was about 493m RSD.
Sugar plant is waiting for the new chance because the preparation of new auction for sale of the factory at even lower starting price is expected soon.
The sugar plant went bankrupt in spring 2008, and its 265 workers were sent to the labor market. During the bankruptcy, Belgrade-based company "Šećer plus", which is the majority owner of the package of stocks in the factory, suggested the programme for reorganization and recovery, which was accepted. However, the key provisions of that programme were not realized, and the bankruptcy of bankrupted debtor was declared.
