Public company "Elektromreža Srbije" (EMS) announced today (November 30, 2009) that it planned to invest 100m EUR in projects in 2010.
The Director General of EMS, Miloš Milanković, said at the press conference that about 60% of the funds would be set aside from the company's own sources, while the rest would be provided from the loans and donations.
- The most important project in 2010 is the completion of construction of long-distance power line Niš-Macedonian border, that is, its second section - Leskovac-Macedonian border - said Milanković.
Total of 35m EUR have been invested in that project, part of which has been provided by the European Commission and part by EMS.
People from EMS say that that long-distance power line is of regional importance not only because it will be transferring energy from the north to the south of the Balkans, but also because it will contribute to development of the territory of south Serbia.
- Long-distance power line Niš-Macedonian border is also significant to the state because the construction of the long-distance power line runs parallel to the construction of Corridor 10, so that it will be easier for the state to offer good environment to investors - Miloš Mladenović, the Executive Director of EMS, pointed out.
Mladenović said that the construction of substation "Beograd 20", which should commence the next week, was one of the priorities of EMS.
- Construction of interconnective long-distance power line Serbia-Romania is in the phase of preparations. That route will enable potential connecting of wind-generators whose construction in south part of Banat is in the pipeline - said Mladenović.
People from EMS announced reconstruction of substation "Beograd 5", "Beograd 3", unit "Bajina Bašta" and the unit on Đerdap.
Since 2001, European Union has set aside 75m EUR for the technical assistance projects of "Elektromreža Srbije", feasibility studies and investment projects.
"Elektromreža Srbije" handed the donation to the best students of the Advanced School of Electrical Engineering in Voždovac today.
