Foreign investors from Europe and USA are very interested in investment in opening and construction of new production capacities, factories and processing units in Municipality of Kovin, on the Danube. The thing that is for certain is the construction of new river port on the Danube, in Kovin. Russian company “Karavan“ and Municipality of Kovin have signed the contract on construction of port on the Danube. Russian partner has already rented 120 ha of land and the aim of the construction is the “two-way“ one. New Kovin’s port will serve for export of agricultural products from Vojvodina, Banata and Serbia to Russian market, whereas the Russian partner will use that port as the place for storing of mining-industrial products, which will be sold to local enterprises, as well as to partners from the neighboring countries and EU. It would be the central place for the export of Russian products to the world, the president of Town Hall of Kovin, eng. Blagoje Bogdanović announced.

Besides, in Municipality of Kovin, serious plans and development programs in “the background of the future port” are being prepared. The contract has already been signed with certain company from France on construction of magnesium factory in Kovin. The program for realization of this investment will be ended very soon. Famous company from USA has already reserved 10 ha of land in Kovin, because it plans to build the factory for processing of fruit and vegetables for the needs of American market. That will be the great opportunity for agricultural combines, collectives and farmers from South Banar, Vojvodina, Municipality of Smederevo and Podunavlje to try to sell their quality products, fruit and vegetables to the company from USA. Besides, certain company from Japan is also interested in investment in Municipality of Kovin. According to the proposal, modern factory should be built and it would employ 2,500 workers. What was it all about was still a business secret, said Mayor of Kovin.

However, if these investments are realized in next few years, few hundreds of workers and experts will get the job.
