Austrian logistics and transportation company "Gebruder Weiss" took over Serbian "Eurocargo"

Austrian logistics and transportation company "Gebruder Weiss" took over the share of 75% in international freight-forwarding company "Eurocargo", with the headquarters in Serbia, on November 12, 2009. Former majority owner - "D-Eckhard Niedermann", a transportation company from Hamburg, withdrew from the business after successful career that lasted for several decades.
The remaining stocks will stay in the possession of the existing stockholder and the Director General - Dragan Simović.
- By taking over the majority share in company "Eurocargo", we will strengthen our local and regional organization and send a clear message that we follow our strategy with the aim of long-term positioning of GW as the company that represents the leader in provision of logistic solutions in central and east Europe - said Wolfgang Niessner, the Director General of company "Gebruder Weiss".
"Eurocargo" has 100 employees and it registered 7.5m EUR worth of turnover in 2008. The company has operative centers in Dobanovci and Leskovac, as well as the branch offices on the border crossings to Hungary and Croatia.
"Gebruder Weiss" Group, with the headquarters in Austrian city of Lauterah, has total of 4,500 employees in 137 locations all around the world. In central and east Europe, GW is present in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine.
The company registered turnover of 985m EUR in 2008.
