MIHAJLOVIC: High-speed rail to Stara Pazova due in March, rail to Novi Sad in Fall 2021

The left track of the of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway section from Belgrade to Stara Pazova 34 km in length is due to be finished in March, while the right track of this section should be done by October. The section of the railway from Belgrade to Novi Sad should be finished by Fall 2021.

The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, said this in a meeting with Yang Zhongmin , the chairman of China Railway International Company (CRIC) with whom she discusses the realisation of the project of modernization of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail.

The Ambassador of China to Serbia, Chen Bo, was also present in the meeting.

Mihajlovic reminded that the worth of all infrastructural projects between Serbia and China amounts to EUR 15 billion.

– The project of modernization of Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail is very important to Serbia, not only because is the biggest project both in Serbia and South East Europe but also because it makes us a part of The Belt and Road global initiative. This project brings Serbia back as a transit country with the first high-speed railway, said Mihajlovic, the Ministry statement reads.
