The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic said that the Serbia 2025 investment plan proposed EUR 9 billion out of total EUR 14 billion to be set aside for transport infrastructure investments.

Mihajlovic told the daily Politika that the major part of the funds, around EUR 5 billion, was intended for transport infrastructure.

– We will invest over EUR 3.5 billion into the railway system and around EUR 274 million will be invested into the eater transportation, the minister said.

She stated that they will invest into air transport as well and will focus on the development of Morava Airport in Kraljevo, where a new runway will be built.

When it comes to apartment building construction, Mihajlovic said that the first group of military and police officers in Vranje would move into their apartments in March. This project entails the construction of over 8,000 apartments across Serbia for which EUR 274 million had been set aside.

– The new investment plan presented by the Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic and the Prime Minister Ana Brnabic proposes additional EUR 500 million for apartments for newly-wed couples, Mihajlovic said.

She added that she was very pleased with all accomplishment in 2019.

– When I see that we have finished the construction and opened for traffic 130 km of highways I can`t be disappointed. I believe my greatest success as a minister is that I've completely changed the perception of infrastructure, the minister said.

She reminded that when it comes to infrastructure, unlike other areas, Serbia has the world`s biggest actors involved.
