While Serbian workers are completing the planned works on the construction of highways, another large infrastructure project in Serbia is entering its final stage. The works on the construction of the main gas pipeline, whose Serbian section is 403 km long, from the Bulgarian to the Hungarian border, have reached peak intensity along the whole route.

A successful realization of this project entailed a timely delivery of pipes to Serbia, and the Russian supplier chose water transport as the most economic form of transport. The pipes were delivered to Serbian ports from Russia through the Port of Constanta on the Black Sea.

Considering the strict deadlines which demanded a precise synchronization of the loading and reloading of a large number of convoys which transported the load, the Russian producer entrusted the organization of the shipping of the pipes with one of the leading logistics companies in the region, the Agent Plus maritime-river agency from Belgrade.

The project started in early April, when the first ships loaded with pipes arrived from Russian ports to Constanta, where the pipes were reloaded to the convoys heading for the ports of Novi Sad, Smederevo, Pancevo and Prahovo.

– In order for this complex job to be done within the planned deadline period of 195 period, Agent Plus had secured a total of 142 vessels for a timely reloading of the pipes at the Port of Constanta, having hired 10 shipping companies from Serbia and abroad, including the river fleet of Agent Plus. During this period, Agent Plus organized the transport and the reloading of around 132,000 tons of pipes of a total length of 290 km, which is around 72% of the total length of the gas pipeline – the company said.
