The new system, financed within the Seadrion project, which involves the Dubrovnik Development Agency DURA and which is supported by the European Union, covers the buildings of the City Administration, the Kino Sloboda movie theater and the Marin Drzic Theater, as announced on the official website of the City of Dubrovnik.
Six heating pumps which exchange energy with seawater, enabling the heating and the cooling, have been installed. The intake location is at the City Port, whereas the recirculation is done at the station. The substations are located in the Rector's Palace, the City Administration building and the theater, Igor Todorovic writes.
The project cost HRK 3.19 million (EUR 428,100), not including the VAT, and the maximum amount from the EU funds is EUR 70,000. A total of HRK 151,400, without VAT, was spent to replace a part of the heating system towards the theater. The Dubrovnik authorities emphasize that the pilot project was carried out within a UNESCO protected area.
