Revival of Serbia's water power sector - projects by EPS and German RVE

The CEO of the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS), Dragoslav
Marković, told "FoNet" yesterday (November 16, 2009) that he had signed the Memorandum of understanding with German company RVE for construction of hydroelectric power plants in Serbia.
Marković said that the Memorandum comprised the work on three large projects in the water power sector of Serbia - the project for reversible hydroelectric power plant "Đerdap 3", energy and economic exploitation of the Velika Morava river, and joint project with the Republic of Srpska for construction of hydroelectric power plants on the Drina river.
- Total value of all these projects exceeds 5 billion EUR. We hope that these clean energy projects will improve the energy portfolio of our company - said Marković.
He expressed the hope that the realization of those projects, elaboration of studies and analyses, would start already in 2009.
