Newly opened custom house in Užice to obtain building in mid-2010

- Recently opened custom house in Užice should obtain its own building prior to mid-2010, and the city authorities are willing to rent 86 acres and 84 square meters of land for construction of the facility in settlement Krčagovo to the Ministry of Finance - the Mayor's Assistant for City Planning, Svetlana Jevđović-Matić, told "eKapija".

- The custom house, which was opened at the end of October, is currently situated in the rented building. The city planning project is finished and it exactly defines technological trends and the facility's capacities. Future custom house will be situated half way between Sevojno, where industrial contents are settled, and the city of Užice. That site was earlier occupied by an industrial zone, while now there is a heavy freight railway station in that location, in the vicinity of which is the main route - said Jevđović-Matić.

Thanks to the new custom house in Užice, for the opening of which the Chamber of Commerce in that city submitted request three decades ago, the Custom house in Kraljevo has been disburdened, while efficiency and rationality in the government agencies have been improved.

- About 60% of activities in Custom house Kraljevo were related to the economy and the affairs of the citizens of Užice and the Zlatibor region, which was a very important argument for the Government of Serbia to back the initiative for opening the Custom house. We have large exporters such as copper and aluminum mill "Seval" and company "Impol". Užice was fortunate enough to maintain large industry in the previous period. It is true that the number of employees is reduced, but the industry is still completely functional when it comes to the volume of production.

The State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Miodrag Đidić, pointed out at the opening ceremony that new Custom house Užice was expected to help the economy in Užice. The opening of free trade zone by the end of the year should also contribute to development of the economy sector in that city.

He also said that he expected Custom house Užice to control border crossings to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, and that the work of border crossings would be improved as well.
