Total of 15.6m EUR for cross-border cooperation with Hungary in 2010

Provincial Secretary of Regional and International Cooperation, Boris Barjaktarović, has invited local self-governments in Vojvodina to join the Serbia-Hungary cross-border cooperation programme whose value in 2010 amounts to 15.6m EUR.

Barjaktarović said at the joint booth of the provincial secretariats of local self-government and intermunicipal cooperation and regional and international cooperation in Master Hall of the Novi Sad Fair that the funds that will be approved to local self-governments through that programme would be huge and larger than the annual budget of those two secretariats.

- We are aware of the influence of the economic crisis, and the habits of local self-governments and companies that are financed from the budget is that, when some changes are introduced, the whole country is put on hold. That is why our task is to present them the sources of finance that have nothing to do with the budget, one of which is this one - said Barjaktarović.

The Provincial Secretary of Local Self-Government and Intermunicipal Cooperation, Jadranka Beljan-Balaban, said that that Secretariat would finance series of projects in 2010 for strengthening capacities of local self-governments. She announced that the realization of the capacities development project would be resumed, including making of municipal strategic plans, development of administrative capacities, and preparation of legal acts of local self-governments.

- Participation of private investments in local self-governments is one of the project whose realization will be commenced in 2010. The aim of this project is to stimulate public-private partnership in local self-governments in Vojvodina - said Ms. Beljan Balaban.
