JTI exported 9m USD worth of tobacco to EU

Company "Japan Tobacco International" (JTI), a part of which is Tobacco Factory in Senta, announced today (November 12, 2009) that it had exported total of 9m USD worth of tobacco to European Union (EU) to the date.
It is stated in the announcement that Serbia currently exports tobacco to Belgium, wherefrom it is sent to the markets all around the world.
JTI has finished the purchase of tobacco of type "virginia" in Serbia by buying up total of 1,846 tons from the surface of 900 ha, while the Tobacco factory in Senta is about to start purchasing tobacco of type "berley".
People in JTI expect to buy 520 tons of tobacco that is grown at 260 ha.
JTI has over 300 workers in Senta and Belgrade, and it hires 600 tobacco growers and seasonal workers.
Since Tobacco factory "Senta" was privatized in 2006, JTI has invested over 100m USD in Serbia, modernized production units, started production and export of cigarettes to Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.
