Production of "punto" vehicles equipped with gas engines was started today (November 11, 2009) in the units of Kragujevac-based "Zastava". Also, the first shipment of 45 gasoline-powered vehicles for the Republic of Srpska was dispatched today. The price of "punto" with gas engine will be 1,100 EUR higher than the price of "punto classic" with gasoline engine, which costs 6,999 EUR without subventions. Production of gasoline-powered "punto" vehicles was started in Kragujevac-based "Zastava" in April 2009. It was followed by the production of vehicles with diesel engines, while the production of gas-powered vehicles started today.
Production of "punto" vehicles with gas engines was started in the presence of the State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Nebojša Ćirić, and the CEO of the newly formed company "Fiat automobili Srbija", Giovani de Filipis.
- We started both export to the Republic of Srpska and production of gas-powered "punto". Today we have completely different factory that is nothing alike to the one from few months ago - said De Filipis, the CEO of factory "Fiat automobili Srbija".
He said that total production of "punto" with different types of engines would exceed 15,000 vehicles by the end of the year. His opinion is that the best-selling model will be gas-powered "punto".
