Serbia enters energy association of EU with countries of Southeast Europe

Minister of Mining and Energy in Government of Republic of Serbia Radomir Naumov announced that the Government of Serbia adopted the Conclusion that enables signing of the contract on forming of energy association between European Union and countries of Southeast Europe on October 25 in Athens.

At the press conference, which followed the meeting of the Government, Naumov pointed out that that would be the first document signed by our country in the phase of commencement of negotiations on stabilization and EU joining and that that contract, if we observed it, would confirm that we fulfill the terms for reception to EU.

He reminded that the contract on forming of energy association was legally binding document that should create and regulate market of natural gas and electric power on the territory of Southeast Europe, with the note that that contract should soon expand to trade in oil and oil derivatives.

According to his words, the afforementioned contract regulates regulatory scopes and introduces elements of competition and market mechanisms, as well as ecological standards, and, after it is ratified in the Parliament, this document will make it possible for our country to use certain financial funds in this field.
