Serbia and Italy to sign energy agreement on November 13th in Rome

- Serbia and Italy will sign the energy agreement on November 13th in Rome - Serbian State Secretary for Energy, Dušan Mrakić, announced yesterday (November 3, 2009).
He said at Serbian Economic Summit in Belgrade that that strategic agreement would enable Serbia's cooperation with Italy, Romania and Montenegro in the energy sector.
Mrakić said that that agreement would enable construction of power units of 1,000 MW in Serbia. He also added that the realization of that project would commence in 2010.
According to his words, Serbia also intends to sign the agreements on cooperation in the energy sector with Germany, Slovakia, Ireland, Norway, China and Congo.
He announced that the Protocol on refurbishment of steam power plant "Kostolac" would be signed with China at the end of November, and that the agreement would also be signed with Congo.
Mrakić reminded that Serbia had the energy agreement with Russia as well.
He said that the establishment of the joint venture of "Srbijagas" and Russian "Gazprom" for construction of gas pipeline "Južni tok" through Serbia was in its final phase.
