Institute "Dr Josif Pančić" from Belgrade plans export of medicinal herbs to Spain

Institute for Medicinal Plant Research "Dr Josif Pančić" from Belgrade, the only institution in the country that studies, produces, processes and sells medicinal herbs and herbal preparations, plans to start exporting products to the market of Spain.
As Snežana Popović, the Marketing Manager, explained for "eKapija", this institute exports medicinal herbs and herbal preparations to Republic of Srpska, Montenegro, Canada, USA, Japan and Switzerland, while the negotiations with Spanish distributor are underway.
The Institute, founded in 1948 as the first and unique institution of the kind in Yugoslavia and the Balkans, has production units in Pančevo and three pharmacies in its possession.
- Large number of PhDs and MAs of pharmaceutical, agronomic, chemical and biological sciences are dealing with the problems of medicinal herbs. Controlled herbal raw material, which contain prescribed quantity of active matters, are exclusively used in production of phyto-preparations – says Ms. Popović.
She points out that the demand for medicinal herbs and preparations exceeds the production capacities. However, lack of raw materials makes larger production impossible.
- We have the need for expansion of capacities because our production is not big enough to satisfy the needs of the market. However, there is a problem in exploitation of medicinal herbs, wild ones in particular, because we obtain permit for the quantities that we can use as raw materials – says Snežana Popović.
Tea parties
Guided by slogan "Science and nature at the service of your health", "Dr Josif Pančić" produces 100% natural products and constantly educates its users on prophylaxis and healthy way of life.
The "Moć bilja" (Power of Herbs) products are based on long-term experiences of traditional phytotherapy, the Institute's own researches and new scientific achievements, and they can be used in number of treatments since they prevent and alleviate various health problems.
Snežana Popović says that they have recently started throwing tea parties in their pharmacy in Belgrade where pharmaceuts and visitors talk and exchange experiences in a pleasant atmosphere.
To understand each others better
Institute for Medicinal Plant Research "Dr Josif Pančić" has joined "To Understand Each Others Better" campaign, so that the employees in their pharmacies will learn the language of signs in order to communicate better with the persons with hearing impediments.
