Document for quicker development - Spatial Plan for Sremska Mitrovica prior to 2028 adopted

Sremska Mitrovica has adopted one of the most significant documents - Spatial Plan for Municipality of Sremska Mitrovica prior to year 2028. That will enable organization of space for construction of facilities on the territory of the municipality, for which no land-utilization plan is required, and the Spatial Plan is also the base for attracting investments from European and national funds.

This Spatial Plan, which has been elaborated by the expert team of the Directorate for Development of Sremska Mitrovica, with the participation of experts from the Republic Agency for Spatial Planning and experts from the Provincial City Planning Institute, defines the comprehensive rules for organization, building and protection of space, although, as the CEO of the City Planning Institute of Vojvodina, Perica Manojlović, explained, none of the plans is "holy testament", but the Spatial Plan for the municipality of Sremska Mitrovica is a good document that will, most certainly, affect the development of the whole municipality.

Spatial planning expert Mirjana Vašut, who led the team of experts who worked on that document, pointed out that the adoption of the Spatial Plan had created good conditions for quicker and egalitarian development, that the present and future work zones had been defined, as well as that the conditions were created for protection of agricultural land as one of the greatest economic potentials of the region. The possibility of construction of industrial facilities in rural areas has also been introduced, but under the condition that they use agricultural products as raw materials. Weekend and tourist zones are also defined, as well as the rules for construction of facilities next to the Sava, but the plan for National Park "Fruška gora" was taken in account because certain part of the municipal territory stretches to Fruška Gora.
