After many years of stagnation, company "Mile Dragić" is returning to its old positions. Most goods produced in Zrenjanin are exported in spite of tough competition from the developed western countries.
That company has recently managed to win the tender for delivery of equipment to Bahrain although the other bidders were the world's most exclusive manufacturers of military equipment. Now the company in Zrenjanin has the job to equip the National Guard and the Police in that country, as well as special anti-terrorist formations and the unit that is sent to Afghanistan as a member of the United Nations.
Zrenjanin-based company was in difficulties because its owner Mile Dragić was accused of illegal operations with the Ministry of Defense in "pancir" affair. That made business contacts with the national army and police difficult, so that certain number of workers had to be laid off, and people in Zrenjanin talked about closing of that once successful company.
Managers of this company - the Deputy Director General, Milenko Borljin, the Export Director, Aleksandar Vasićm, and the Marketin Director, Dejan
Dragić - say that immediately started affirmation of so-called security programme that included development of production of equipment for physical-technical security agencies. the opening of which represented massive trend in all transition countries. About 60,000 people in Serbia are working in that domain.
The company has also signed significant contract on delivery of uniforms for NIS.
