The Monetary Board of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) made the decision today (October 28, 2009) to keep the referential interest rate at 11% on annual basis.

According to the announcement, the next meeting of the Monetary Board will be held on November 5th.

The referential interest rate was lowered to 11% on October 8th. Before that, it was reduced by 1%, to 12%, on July 10th.

NBS uses interest rate on two-week repo operations as the referential interest rate. In repo operations NBS sells securities with the obligation to buy them back with the interest rate after certain time.
