MATIĆ: Possible postponement of license granting for second fixed telephony operator

The Minister of Telecommunications of Serbia, Jasna Matić, said that it was possible that the issuing of license to the second fixed telephony operator would be postponed if the Government of Serbia found the offered price low.

- If we decide that the economic crisis is seriously affecting our sector, the whole process will be postponed, that is, repeated after some time - she said to the press at the conference on electronic management and electronic identity.

According to her earlier announcements, the second fixed operator should be selected by the end of theyear, while the tender should be announced prior to November 11th.

The Government of Serbia adopted the information on Friday (October 9th) with the conclusion about granting of new license for fixed telephony on the existing bradband network.
