New rules put in effect for submission of reports on international operations to National Bank of Serbia by companies in Serbia


Based on the Law on Foreign Currency Operations, the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Radovan Jelašić, has recently made the Decision that describes the obligation of the companies from Serbia to submit reports on international operations to NBS.
According to that Decision, the companies are obliged to submit reports on international operations to the National Bank of Serbia on the following bases:
- direct investments by non-residents in the country or residents living abroad;
– investments by non-residents in the securities that do not represent direct investments and whose issuers are residents;
– investments by residents in the securities that are not direct investments and whose issuers are non-residents;
– investments by non-residents in the securities issued by residents;
– investments by residents in the securities issued by non-residents;
– investment (construction) works carried out in the country by non-residents;
– investment (construction) works carried out abroad by residents;
– balance on the accounts of residents who live abroad;
– balance on contocorent accounts for international operations;
– other activities required for making balance of payments.
The National Bank of Serbia can use these reports exclusively for the needs of the analysis of the balance of payments of the Republic of Serbia and the state of direct investments by residents who live abroad and non-residents in the Republic of Serbia, and the data from these reports can be made available to the public only in aggregated form (summed up).
The forms and the deadlines for submission of these reports are defined as well:
- report on foreign direct investments by non-residents in the country (balance and transactions) is to be submitted quarterly, for which Form DI-1 is used;- report on foreign direct investments by residents who live abroad (balance and transactions) is to be submitted quarterly, for which Form DI-2 is used;
- report on the ownership investment portfolio of residents who live abroad is to be submitted quarterly, for which Form PI is used;
- reports on investments in securities – the investments by residents in the securities issued by non-residents and the investments by non-residents issued by residents – are to be submitted once a month, for which Form HOV is used;
- report on transactions between residents and non-residents based on investment (construction) works is to be submitted quarterly, for which Form GRU is used;
- report on the balance on the accounts of residents who live abroad and on contocorent accounts is to be submitted quarterly, for which Form RN is used.
All forms are published in the Official Bulletin of the Republic of Serbia no. 87/2009.
These reports are to be made in USD, according to the official middle exchange rate on the last day of the reporting period.
