The ad for the sale of Sava Centar in Belgrade will be placed in about ten days. The purchaser will oblige to keep the facility’s purpose and to invest around EUR 40 million in its reconstruction, Politika writes.

Citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter, Politika writes that the city wants to get rid of the congress center because its losses, which amount to around EUR 3 million a year, are covered from the budget.

The budget of the City of Belgrade would gain around EUR 1 million from the property tax, which Sava Centar does not pay as a city company. Furthermore, the largest local self-government in Serbia no longer wants to carry out activities which are not of municipal nature.

Let us remind that the city first started looking for a partner for this job in 2016, when a public invitation for founding a joint company was initiated.

A new public invitation opened in late 2017 and the partner was expected to renovate the congress capacities of the center and its infrastructure.

In mid-2018, the city and Delta initiated direct negotiations, which proved to be unsuccessful. It was soon announced that a concessionaire would be sought for Sava Centar.
