Best business environment certificates awarded – Sabac, Pozarevac and Cuprija pronounced “business friendly”

The Regional Network for Business Friendly Environment in South East Europe (BFC SEE) has awarded “business friendly” certificates to representatives of 17 towns and municipalities in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Sabac is one of the three towns in Serbia to get the certificate. The other two are Pozarevac and Cuprija.

For 39,000 enterprises and companies, as well as 900,000 local citizens, this means that they can count on local self-government services at the highest international standards, says the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED).

This is the second certificate for Sabac, proving that it is constantly working on improving the business conditions.

So far, 54 local self-governments have been certified “business friendly”, whereas another 33 are in the process of certification.

Analyses show that the business conditions in those places are 70% better than in the towns and municipalities without the certification, and they are nearly three times more successful in attracting investments as well, the NALED says.

The program of “business friendly” certification in South East Europe has been carried out by more than 20 institutions and organizations from Croatia, North Macedonia, B&H, Montenegro and Serbia since 2012. The German government has also supported the program through its GIZ organization for international cooperation.
