"Sagem" waits EPS's decision about replacement of electric meters in order to start production in Niš

French company "Sagem" has not opened the unit for production of electric meters in Niš yet because "Electric Power Company of Serbia" (EPS) has not announced the tender for replacement of electric meters.

The Mayor of Niš, Miloš Simonović, said today that, according to the information provided by the Government of Serbia, EPS should announce the tender for replacement of electric meters at the beginning of the next year.

"Sagem" should start production of electric meters in the premises of company "EI PCB Factory".

- Since there is still no need for electric meters, the production has not been started yet. If the business develops, "Sagem" will move to a separate building. The condition is that the business exists, so that we still wait for EPS's tender for replacement of electric meters - the CEO of company "EI PCB Factory", Maja Jović, told "Beta" agency.

"EI PCB Factory" is a long-time partner of French "Sagema", and the electric meters produced by the French manufacturer are being marked in the units of that factory within Niš-based "Electronic Industry".

The Government of Serbia and the city of Niš signed the Protocol on cooperation with "Sagem" at the end of March, which should enable opening of the unit for production of electric meters of the French company in Niš-based "Electronic Industry".

The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Božidar Đelić, said after the Protocol was signed that "Sagem" would invest 1m EUR in the factory in the first year, as well as that minimum 6m EUR would be invested and 250 people employed within the next five years.

The President of the Administrative Board of "Sagem", Patrick Sevian, announced that installation of production units in Niš would start in few months.
