The Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development of Serbia, Mladen Sarcevic, said that there was a plan to raise a new building for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, as well as two science campuses, in New Belgrade.

– We are negotiating about the credit for the construction of a new building for the faculty. We are going to build two campuses in New Belgrade, one for the Faculty of Arts, the other for the faculties of biology, geography and security studies – Sarcevic told the press after a gathering in Belgrade where the digitization of education in Serbia was discussed.

As he explained, the new building should be located in the zone behind the faculty's existing building, where there's around 7,000 m2 for the new technical campus.

Sarcevic also said that the works on the expansion of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences of 7,000 m2, which were hampered by issues regarding the permits, would begin after the faculty's anniversary is marked.

– We also discussed artificial intelligence today and we've already signed an agreement with the Chinese company Red Dragon, which comes from this field. It is now up to the Ministry of Education to form training centers for robotics – he said.

Sarcevic also said that the training centers were planned in Belgrade, Novi Sad and, most probably, Trstenik.

– The opening of those centers will allow the integration of engineering studies from the University of Novi Sad, Belgrade faculties and the universities in Kragujevac and Nis – he pointed out.

Talking about the digitization of primary and secondary education, Sarcevic said that his ministry would have RSD 840 million for the purchase of computers in its budget for the first time, sharing it with the Office for Information Technologies.
