Pig breeding center opened in Gornji Milanovac - investment worth 350,000 EUR

Specialized cattle breeding cooperative "Agronor" from Gornji Milanovac opened the Center for artificial insemination of pigs on October 16th, in which 350,000 EUR was invested.

The Director of the Cooperative, Bojan Petković, said that the insemination would be done according to the "Pig breeding-Norwegian model" project.

In about ten days, 35 elite hogs from Norway will be delivered to that Center. It is Norwegian breed of pigs whose main characteristics are smaller percentage of fat and greater resistance to weather conditions.

- Only the members of the Cooperative will be able to use the semen of this pig breed, and all that should contribute to creation of new jobs in Serbia's villages where trained farmers will work - said Petković.

Over the last three years, "Agronor" has organized 300 courses for training of future farmers in modern pig breeding, and it has opened branch offices in Vrnčani, Saraoci, Mošorin, Kuzmin, Jagodina, Mol, Stopanja and Kragujevac, where that pig breed will be grown.

The Center was opened in the presence of the representatives of Norwegian Embassy to Belgrade, the city of Mušjen in the north of Norway, and the Cooperative Association of Serbia.
