Company "Telenor" and cable operator SBB will be the main competitors in the race for the license for new fixed telephony operator in Serbia. "Deutsche telecom" is not going to bid on this tender, which will be announced by the end of the year, because the ambition of German giant is to take over "Telekom Srbija", of which sale was postponed by the Government of Serbia because of the global economic crisis.
- "Telenor" and SBB are interested, and they have been negotiating with the authorities in Serbia for some time - the source close to authorities told "Blic".
Tender for the second fixed telephony operator will be announced by the end of the year, and then an auction will be organized for two best-ranked bidders. Starting auction price will be the highest price offered on the tender.
People in SBB do not hide their interest, but they told "Blic" that they can not claim they would participate in the tender because they did not know the terms yet.
People in "Telenor" refused to say if they were going to bid on the tender.
- We are not familiar with the terms of the tender for the second fixed telephony operator. Therefore, we have no comment at the moment - people from that company told us.
"Telekom Austria", which is already present in our market through mobile operator "Vip", will not be in the race for the license.
- We are not interested in obtaining the license for new fixed telephony operator in Serbia - Dragana Roter, the Manager of Corporate Communications in "Vip", told "Blic".
