Austrian "Eyemaxx" may soon start construction of cargo center in Niš - land status resolved

Construction of cargo center at airport "Konstantin Veliki" in Niš, in which Austrian company "Eyemaxx" is willing to invest 60m EUR, may start soon because the status of the land where that center will be built has been resolved.
- Finally, the agreement has been made with the Ministry of Defense and the Directorate for Property of Republic of Serbia, and it put the land at 170 ha at the Niš airport in the possession of the city of Niš - Mayor Miloš Simonović told Beta agency.
He explained that the contract on return of 170 ha of land to the city was being prepared, and that it should be approved by the Government of Serbia. According to the new Law on Local Self-Government, the land will become a property of the city, that is, public company "Airport Niš".
Simonović said that the Austrian company had known that the city had not been the user and the owner of the land when it had signed the contract in 2008.
- A conditional contract was signed, and it was supposed to be put in effect as soon as the land status was resolved. The tender was announced in the same way - said Simonović.
Niš-based airport and company "Eyemax" signed the contract on construction of cargo center in October 2008, but the condition for commencement of works was that the airport be user of the land at which that facility was supposed to be built.
The land occupied by the civil airport in Niš became the property of the Republic of Serbia in 2002 by the decision of the Federal Government of FRY.
