Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain became honorable citizen of Belgrade

Miguel Angel Moratinos, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, was named the Honorable Citizen of Belgrade yesterday (October 6, 2009). In that way, he became the 23rd laureate since 1947 when the award was established.
Explaining at the beginning of the City meeting why Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs deserved to become an Honorable Citizen of Belgrade, Mayor Dragan Đilas said that the City Council had taken in consideration the contribution of both Moratinos and Spain to development and improvement of the positions of Belgrade and Serbia in Europe, as well as Spain's pleading for the abolishment of visas for the citizens of Serbia, and he pointed out that that country should also be rewarded for its position towards Kosovo and Metohia.
