Serbia exported 1.5m tons of goods using "Constantza" Port during eight months of year 2009


- During the first eight months of year 2009, Serbia exported 1.5m tons of goods, 719,000 tons of which were cereals, through Romanian port "Constantza" - the Director General of that port, Ioan Balan, said today (September 24, 2009) in Belgrade.
According to the information submitted to the press, the quantity of goods exported from Serbia during the first eight months of this year through Port "Constantza" at the Black Sea is 37.2% larger than last year when overall turnover amounted to 942,145 tons.
- Trade in cereals grew by 300% in 2009 - Balan said at the opening of international conference Days of Port "Konstanca".
Port "Konstanca", as Balan pointed out, is one of the largest ports for transportation of freight, and "our aims are to modernize and improve roads and railway in order to shorten the transit time".
The Coup d'Affaires in the Embassy of Romania to Belgrade, Ionel Constantin, said that Serbia and Romania maintained good business cooperation and that the value of total exchange of goods in 2008 had exceeded 1 billion USD, which was 39% more than in 2007.
