Kaludjerica and Petlovo Brdo by tram – Construction of new lines and reconstruction of existing ones planned

While the citizens of Belgrade are waiting for the subway to be built and the BG voz system to be extended, they will have to use trams, which could go to Petlovo brdo, Kaludjerica and Karaburma in the future.

This is what the announced general regulation plan of rail systems says.

- Our goal is for the subway, trams and BG voz to take over more than 50% of traffic in the capital - Stanko Kantar, the head of the PUE Beogradski metro i voz, said on RTS.

According to these plans, the tram could reach Kaluđerica, probably from the direction of Ustanička Street, where the turn is now, and through Mali Mokri Lug, along the Kralja Aleksandra Blvd...

Another extension would be on Čukarica and Rakovica, since the trams that are currently going to Banovo brdo, through Žarkovo, where they were planned even decades ago, would reach all the way to Petlovo brdo. In Trgovacka Street, in Zarkovo, for example, the center of the traffic route was once left for tram transport.

- The idea is for the trams to continue from Bogoslovija to Ada Huja, that is, Karaburma, where they would cross the first line of the subway. Our goal is for tram, subway and BG voz stops to be complementary, to be no more than 50-100 meters away - Kantar added.

Another tram line that has been mentioned is the one in the city center.

- It should connect Slavija, Terazije, the Republic Square and Kalemegdan.

Experts agree that the development of the tram system should be sped up.

- They should have an advantage over other types of traffic - says the head of the PUE Beogradski metro i voz.
