Through investments in agriculture to Montenegrin citizenship

Any foreigner who invests EUR 2 million in primary agricultural production, EUR 3.5 million in the processing of agricultural and fish products, or EUR 4 million in wood processing may apply for Montenegrin citizenship.

This is defined in the regulation adopted by the Montenegrin government on Thursday, July 18.

The regulation defines the terms which development projects in agriculture and wood processing should meet in the process of selecting investors who may acquire Montenegrin citizenship in line with the project of economic citizenship, Vijesti writes.

The document says that, in addition to these terms, the investor needs to employ at least ten workers if the investment pertains to primary agricultural production or 20 workers if it pertains to manufacturing and wood industry, the Mina agency reported.

An investor looking to acquire citizenship this way may not apply for other incentives related to that investment.

Advantage will be given to those who enable a substitution of import through their investment, those who use previously unused agricultural land, those who invest in less developed municipalities and those who incite cooperation with hotel owners.
