Although the government has not yet prepared a concession act for the valorization of Montenegrin airports, the interest of foreign investors is already there. Certain Turkish companies are ready to take over the management over airports in Podgorica and Tivat, Ozan confirmed.
– Preparations have been going on for a long time now. Turkish investors are negotiating with Montenegrin institutions. These are prestigious professional companies which are recognized globally as good and professional investors. Of course, the government will make a decision within the legal framework, but we expect a positive result – the ambassador said.
Economic relations between Montenegro and Turkey are good. Year after year, Ozan says, the trade of goods is on a constant rise.
– Last year, the exports increased by 48%. We also support the exporting from Montenegro to Turkey, because we want both countries to benefit from this. We have very serious investments in Montenegro in the sectors of construction, tourism and banking – she points out.
Turkish investors are most interested in healthcare, tourism and construction. Official statistics show that there are around 2,600 companies in Montenegro whose founders are Turkish citizens.
– Most of them are not yet active and we assume that there are around 300-400 active companies. What encourages Turkish investors to come to Montenegro is that your country is on its way to joining the EU and is also a member of the NATO. This is a politically stable country and that’s why our investors are interested in investing here – Ozan says.
