Construction of three large hydroelectric power plants in Vojvodina in the pipeline


- Vojvodina's Energy Development Strategy anticipates construction of three large hydroelectric power plants on the territory of the Province - the Executive Council of Vojvodina announced today (September 9th, 2009).
It is possible that hydroelectric power plants will be built on the Danube, near Novi Sad and Bezdan, and on the Sava, while smaller hydroelectric power plants may be built on the Tisa, near Vrbas and Kajtasovo.
The anticipated power of these hydroelectric power plants is not specified in the announcement.
- The request for construction of a steam power plant of up to 600 MW in Kovin has been submitted to the Ministry of Energy of Serbia - said Radoslav Striković, the Provincial Secretary of Energy.
The suggestion that the Executive Council of Vojvodina should establish the fund for subsidizing production of energy from renewable sources was accepted at the meeting.
