Nis to get modern glass concerts hall with 2,000 seats – Construction announced for 2020

The contest for the preliminary design of the new concert hall in Nis has been completed, which, according to Mayor Darko Bulatovic, is the first step towards the city’s getting the long awaited concert hall. Bulatovic adds that the processes of obtaining the building permit and land expropriation are currently in progress, whereas the preliminary design has been completed.

– The concert hall will be located in Nemanjica Blvd, where a Nis Express garage used to be, in the part towards the Saint Sava park – Bulatovic explains. – Under this project, it should meet the highest standards of similar halls, primarily in terms of acoustics. The plan is for it to have 2,000 seats, and several smaller stages, as well as a hotel-restaurant for the guests, would also be featured within the building itself.

The public procurement procedure for the construction of the hall would open as soon as 2020.

– The hall would be made of glass, that would be the dominant material, and the visitors would be provided with a view to all the parts of the city from the hall – the mayor of Nis adds. – A parking lot should be built right next to the hall.
