Unique boat ride by Horizont to Romania in 15 minutes – Tourism boom in Kladovo and a new attraction

Kladovo has been the choice of many tourists lately, primarily due to the proximity of the Danube, but also the numerous highlights and its interesting history, and all accommodation capacities are full in peak season. Recently, an international boat line between Serbia and Romania was introduced, the only one of its kind in Serbia.

– The Horizont boat travels between Kladovo and Turn Severin. A trip in one direction takes around 15 minutes and is available three times a day. The promo period began on Thursday, June 20, and ended on Sunday, June 23. In those four days, we had around 2,500 passengers – Petar Jovanovic of Horizont Tourist says for eKapija and adds that there were more tourists from Romania who visited Kladovo than the other way around.

Rides scheduled for June 24-25 have been canceled due to the weather forecast, but the organizers announce new tours as soon as Wednesday, June 26.

– We expect a great interest, as people have been waiting for this for a long time. The price of a ticket in one direction is RSD 400, whereas a return ticket costs RSD 600 – Jovanovic says.

The Tourism Organization of Kladovo is satisfied as well. They say for eKapija that they hope that this boat line will attract new guests, as the only connection between the two cities so far has been by taxi, considering that the bus lines are not regular.

– In peak season, everything is full here, including hotel accommodation, for around 350 guests, but also private facilities, with around 500 beds. Anyone who had extra room has turned to providing accommodation for tourists. For now, there are 65 private accommodation facilities, but a large number of facilities is waiting to be categorized this way too – the Tourism Organization of Kladovo says.

They say that they hope that this service will attract new tourists from Romania.

Horizont is a high tourist class boat and is ideal for panoramic rides on the Danube. It has a capacity of 180 passengers.

At a conference held recently in Austria, where the Network for Sustainable Mobility and Tourism on the Danube, headquartered in Linz, was founded, Kladovo got the status of a Danube Pearl, as it meets the criteria of sustainable mobility in tourism. In addition to Kladovo, the status was awarded to only 10 other destinations, from Ulm in Germany to the Danube delta in Romania.
