From July 1, citizens of the Western Balkans states will be able to make roaming phone calls at prices lower by nearly 30%. This, as Politika writes, is only the beginning of the implementation of the regional agreement on roaming, signed in April.

In this first phase, the prices will be reduced by 27%, whereas a full abolition of roaming for the Western Balkans is expected for July 1, 2021. The agreement defines the maximum prices of calls, text messages and data transfer. One minute of a call will therefore not be able to cost more than 22.4 dinars, the maximum price of a text message will be 7 dinars, whereas the maximum price of data transfer will be 21.4 dinars per megabyte.

The price of call roaming with Albania will be lower by as much as 85%, as the country has not been part of the agreement signed by Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and B&H in 2014.

Mobile phone operators couldn’t tell the exact prices or whether they would be lower than the maximum prices under the agreement. However, they did confirm that a price list was being prepared and that it would be disclosed before the implementation of the agreement.
